What is liposuction surgery?

Liposuction is a surgical method that is done to physically remove the excess fat cells which are located at specific parts of the body. This could be the accumulation of fat in places like the belly, thighs, and butt, etc. The liposuction is a technique used to remove the fat from the areas that cannot respond to diet and exercise.

The liposuction is not a weight loss surgery but rather a removal of fat. If you are obese, you can lose a lot of weight through diet and exercise, there are also bariatric surgery methods, but the best way to remove excess fat from specific areas is the liposuction.

What is liposuction?

First of all, the surgeon will mark the areas of accumulated fat. This will then proceed with making incisions in the area and inserting a hollow tube, which is called the cannula. This cannula is attached to a vacuum on the other side on which the liquid fat is sucked.

Types of Liposuction

Before the fat cells are sucked out, they need to be detached from each other and the surrounding tissues, and for this, the surgeon will use techniques like vibrations, laser light, saline, and ultrasound. Based on this, there are three kinds of liposuction:

  • Tumescent liposuction

In this method, a substantial amount of solution is injected before the suction. They will generally contain a mixture of epinephrine, lidocaine, and salt solution. This solution will result in the shrinking of blood vessels and will reduce blood loss during the surgery. This reduces the amount of pain the patient will suffer and also reduces the swelling after the procedure. This will make the fat easy to suck out by a suction machine. The excess fat will be collected in a collection system.

  • Ultrasound-assisted liposuction

This method uses ultrasonic vibrations to break down the fatty tissues and loosen them around the surrounding tissues.

  • Laser-assisted liposuction

This method utilizes the laser energy to break the fat cells.

The main difference between all the methods is the mode of liquefaction of the fatty cells. The surgery can be divided based on treatment as in where it is being done from liposuction in Las Vegas. For example, it can be done on the tummy, arms, breasts, buttocks, chin, back, etc. Once the liposuction in Las Vegas is done, then the patient has to control and maintain their fat development with the help of diet and exercise.
